“Prati is an elegant residential neighborhood, where you will have a chance to feel fully integrated into city life. Unlike more touristy areas of Rome, Prati is home to many Italian families, and the abundance of affordable shopping, dining, and public transportation will allow you to experience modern Rome as it is lived today.”

I received my housing packet last week! I will be living in an apartment in the Prati neighborhood with seven other girls. The apartment has four doubles and we choose our roommates amongst ourselves. Seems a little cut throat if you ask me, but I’m sure we’ll work it out. I have already connected with some of my housemates through facebook and I can’t wait to meet them!
I also received a list of activities the school organizes throughout the semester. The trips sound amazing! A few highlights: a guided bike ride through the medieval town of Tarquinia with a full-course meal and wine tasting, formaggi-cheese tasting (I’ll be thinking of you CRUD), and my personal favorite, a visit to the town of Orvieto where we will be soaking in natural hot spring thermal baths! Anytime I’m having second thoughts about study abroad, I just imagine soaking in a warm thermal bath and my fears melt away ;).

I’ve been reading over my API Toolbox, which is basically an online orientation, and it has some interesting stuff. It has great websites like ciao-italy, which links you to Italian newspaper articles in English and even Italian radio! There are so many links to look at! And yet, I still can’t find pictures of Italian street fashion that don’t involve eighty pound models in six-inch stilettos…
